We are looking for a new home for our dog Logan, he is a Husky mix as shown by his great blue eyes.
We are moving across the country soon, and have made a difficult decision to try and find him a better home, more suited to his energetic lifestyle. He is a wonderful companion, and very smart, and excellent at dog parks where he can be social off leash. When on-leash, he can be more protective against dogs similar to himself but mostly is quite pleasant. He definitely needs to be exercised regularly and won't accept staying inside for long stretches without telling you it's time to go out somewhere.
We adopted him from the Guelph shelter more than two years ago and he has been quite the project, suffering from separation anxiety and being a bit protective of his things around small children (under 5). He has come a long long way from when we got him, and easily settles in at home while we're working our 8am-5's. The shelter estimated he was between 3 and 5 years old, so would be 5-7 years now. He is very much a companion dog, and while you are with him he definitely likes to be at your side. He will not accept being in a locked crate (doghouse) at all, or at least we did not have luck with training him to be comfortable in one and so stays in our room while we are out of the house. He is a good watch dog, and will let you know if someone is around or knocks on the door.
We have found our lifestyle doesn't live up to his demands of exercise, and think we would all be in a better place if he was with someone who could offer him a more active life. So we are hoping to find someone active, or possibly a farm or rural area would be wonderful for him as he could happily tire himself out there. We wouldn't recommend him around the very young, but he is fantastic with kids over 5. With his very high energy, it would be good to still be around while the kids play with him, as with most dogs. If he can get the exercise he needs, we think he would settle down quite a bit and be a fantastic companion for anyone up to the task.
Please feel free to call, I am easier to get hold of after 5pm but will try to answer the phone if I can.
Thanks,
Sean
